sharing some thoughts on tragedy
This feels like one of those times where i hate being on facebook, seeing all these posts about gun control and brutality in other parts of america. i’ve spent more than my share of time dreaming… but lately i just feel like there are people that are doing more sleeping then me. This isn’t a zombie apocalypse, you don’t need tactical rifle capable of unloading hundreds of bullets in mintues.
But how about we step outside of the box? Switzerland makes ever adult handle a gun and learn gun safety and the responsiblity of using a weapon, their crime rates are significantly lower. Well, maybe we could look at there’s a lack of education? The problem with this is how even this kid was on his way to a PHD in nueroscience; my guess is at this point is most people are willing to throw their hands up and say THAT KID IS JUST FUCKED UP.
sadly this is the part that upsets me most, because i think that makes us, sick, we are full of apathy, closing our hearts off from eachother and others, this is your community, your neighbors, your county, your state, your nation. why are so many individuals that are soo spirited in their own freedom so willing to enuthanize our brothers and sisters? that sick kid is someone’s son, she had dreams for him, she believed one day he would have done something great…and he could have… but apathy was bred into him, like so many people in our country.
Can we focus on building a better future for our kids rather than what our grandparents did? what we want for ourselves? because it feels bleak for our future when we’re only looking 5 steps ahead.
